In the painting, Mother Mary is portrayed at the moment of the Annunciation, where the angel Gabriel declares, ‘The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you’ (Luke 1:35). As we meditate on the response of our Blessed Mother, ‘May it be done to me according to your word’ (Luke 1:38), we pray that we will always remain attentive and discern the messages the Lord sends forth to us each day, even when we do not fully comprehend, and that we may faithfully follow God’s divine will.
